Hard to believe that it again is National Nurses Week. This year marks my 27th!!! Gawd I am old. But to celebrate it up. . . here are a few highlights from my career. The first piccie is graduation.
The second piccie is from what I consider my favorite moment in nursing: trauma nursing while volunteering for the Olympic Games. I was the only U.S. Nurse to be selected to serve in GamesForce 2000 the official volunteer workforce for the Sydney Olympic Games. What an honor to get to volunteer, using the skills of your passion,. Nursing in the Olympics was simply amazing. Although I have had many patient care experiences which have touched my heart, this moment for me summed it all up. Working the night of the Opening ceremonies, being fitted for my official uniforms, getting my gift a Swatch Olympic watch, attending the games as a thank you gift, and seeing the torch lit were just spectacular moments. I will never forget Sydney 2000. I cried my eyes out as the fireworks went off to close the games. We watched from a rooftop of an Aussie Youth Hostel in downtown. Hard to believe it has been ten years.
Hats off nursies to your most precious memories!!!! God bless us nurses.
