What does your life mean to you? What does the ability to walk mean to you? What if someone told you that you have a disease? A progressive disease that will eat away at your muscles, make you unable to run and play? Cause your heart muscle and respiratory muscles to fail? And that you may not see your 25th birthday?
Would you begin to live for today? Would you fight the fight of this disease without a cure? This disease is Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. This is my son's disease. This is Darius' disease. There is no cure.
Next Sunday, January 25th, I will attend with my son, a screening of the movie starring Darius. Darius Goes West. Everyone told Darius that like his brother he would die young. He might not graduate from highschool. Darius said. . . watch me!
During his freshmen summer, Darius traveled in his wheelchair West. He wanted to get it done up by Pimp my ride. His journey was videotaped. During the next summer, a film crew made it into a movie. During the next summer, his junior year, Darius realized that he people were watching. . . people were beginning to listen. Darius dared to dream. He dared to dream that during his Senior year and beyond, he would sell one million of his videos. . . so that there would be a cure. So that there would be hope.
This movie is about his journey. This post is about helping Darius and my son achieve that goal. Please, go to this website:
Buy this wonderful movie for $17. All the profits go to Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. Watch the trailers. All of them. Watch this film. Post it on your blog or facebook. Show this boy. . .who did graduate from high school that you are listening too.

I saw this movie at the Independent Boston Film Festival in 2007. It was AMAZING! I met Darius and he was a very down to earth, real kid. I hope you enjoy the film!
